Men’s Tennis’ Jakub Jupa & Cortland Grove Receive Draw, Open ITA South Sectionals on Thursday

The Chattanooga Mocs men’s tennis doubles team of Jakub Jupa and Cortland Grove will look to earn a berth into the NCAA Championships this weekend.

CHATTANOOGA (November 5, 2025) – The Chattanooga Mocs men's tennis doubles team of Jakub Jupa and Cortland Grove have solidified their presence among college tennis' best tandems and will compete in this weekend's Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) South Sectional Championships held in Athens, Ga., at the University of Georgia.

The ITA Sectional event will reward three qualifiers from each section (four sections, 12 teams) on the doubles side with an automatic berth to the 2025 NCAA Individual Championships. The three qualifiers will be the main draw champion, runner-up and third-place finisher.

Jupa and Grove received their official draw on Wednesday and will face Alabama's duo of Jacob Olar and Andrii Zimnokh in the Round of 16 tomorrow (Thursday, November 6) with a spot in the quarterfinals on the line. Zimnokh earned a preseason ITA national ranking (No. 68) in doubles with a different Tide teammate.

Jupa and Grove went on a historic and remarkable run through the 2025 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Ohio Valley Regional Championships a few weeks ago in West Lafayette, Indiana, ultimately earning a spot in this week's sectional. The pair became just the second in program history to finish runner-up in the main draw doubles format of the ITA Ohio Valley Regional event.
