Volleyball Adds Caroline Peterson to 2026 Recruiting Class

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Chattanooga Volleyball added a new player to its 2026 roster on Wednesday, with incoming freshman Caroline Peterson signing with the Mocs. Peterson is a defensive specialist from Asheville, North Carolina and is the daughter of Brent and Jennifer Peterson. Chattanooga Head Coach Julie Torbett Thomas coached Jennifer at UNC Asheville from 1996-2000.

Peterson has solidified herself as one of the top players in Western North Carolina across her high school career. She started her freshman and sophomore year off at TC Roberson High School before transferring to Asheville Christian Academy for her final two years. For Club Volleyball, she played for Stars Carolinas – Girls and Biltmore Volleyball Academy.

She has racked up several awards during her career including Conference Player of the Year, 2x All-State, All-American Watch List, All-WNC Second Team, 4x All-Conference, 2x AVCA Phenom Watch List, and JVA Watch List.

"Caroline is a fierce competitor, and I'm looking forward to having her in the gym every day. She's exceptionally bright in the classroom, and that intelligence will translate into quickly learning what it takes to succeed as a Division I student-athlete," Torbett Thomas said. "I coached her mother at UNC Asheville, where she was an All-Conference player, and I know Caroline will bring the same work ethic, loyalty, and competitive drive that have already been instilled in her long before arriving at UTC."

Both TC Roberson and Asheville Christian Academy had a ton of success with Peterson on their roster. Her combined record across four seasons is 80-19, with a 15-1 mark at Asheville Christian Academy in her senior year. Each season of her career, Peterson won a Conference Championship.

Statistically, Peterson totaled 790 kills and 663 digs for her career. Additionally, Caroline has proven to be a strong server, accounting for 243 service aces in her career.

Caroline has one brother, Matthew, who is 21 years old. When she gets to campus, Caroline plans to study Biology. As a result of her commitment to the classroom, she was inducted into the National Honor Society.
