Deandra Schirmer, head coach
Opening Statement
"I think that one thing that we've talked about as a group is we have to continue to get better every single day as we're in the heart of the season. I think a lot of times teams start plateauing, but this is how we are and this is how we're going to play. But one thing that we've talked about is we need to keep adding dimensions to our game. We need to keep getting better and tonight I thought we did an excellent job and our bench did an excellent job coming in. We were playing a lot more bodies and everybody who came in was able to contribute for us. And that's something that we're prepping for the postseason and to get some really good minutes from a lot of of players that maybe haven't seen as much time and for them to step up and play really well. I also feel like, you know, enough can't be said about Sigrun. It was funny, when I subbed her out in the third quarter. I had to introduce her to what the bench looked like because she hasn't seen it all year long and for someone like herself who works hard every single day to have a big game tonight, I also thought Karsen Murphy, you know, she's been working really hard and hit some big threes to kind of open up the game in the first quarter, both her and Sigrun. It was kind of tag team. And I think the thing that we've kept telling our players is our defense is gonna is gonna translate wherever, if we're on the road or if we're at home. The shots are going to fall if we keep at it, and to our credit and to our players' credit, they've been working really hard and those shots really, they fell for us tonight and that felt good."

On rotating players throughout the lineup
"We're we're still working through our rotation, so we still have in the next three weeks, we we've got to get some solid rotations and more reps with some of our our players that we're trying to work into the rotation. I also feel like one of the things that we've got to continue to develop is our offensive game. And I think because Caia has been so dominant for us as a coaching staff, it's easy to sometimes lean on her, but we also know we've got five capable scores out on the court at any given point and we've got to be able to move, read and react, and really have a freedom of movement on our offense. So I think that's really what we're looking on going into the second half of conference in some of these big road games is, how well can we attack their defensive effort and how well can we manage to score the ball on the road?"

On game flow and struggles
"We know we have been struggling a little bit with beginning of games, so we decided this game to just come out strong and hit the first punch and we get them go and we struggle a little bit, it was scoring, but our defense held, so just gotta get the group of the game and let it come to us. Yeah, and I I think to start the game, I think it was zero zero for like the first three minutes of the game. and we've talked about that a little bit. if it takes us a little bit to get going offensively, our defense has to hold and I really think, you know, we scored 20 points, but I feel like that was in the last five minutes of of the first quarter. And so that's something where controlling what we can control and coming out and playing defense and rebounding basketball, and then the rest is gonna come."
