CHATTANOOGA (June 24, 2025) – The Chattanooga Mocs men's tennis team added its third transfer commitment to the 2025-26 roster with the signing of Marquette sophomore transfer TJ Ryerson, head coach
Chuck Merzbacher and the program announced on Tuesday morning.
Ryerson saw action in 19 dual matches as a true freshman at Marquette this past 2025 spring season between both singles and doubles play. Ryerson competed in singles play across the No. 3-5 slots while playing primarily at the No. 3 spot in the doubles format.
"I'm super excited to announce that TJ [Ryerson] has decided to play for the Mocs," said head coach Merzbacher.
"This young man has been on an upward trajectory with his tennis game and has gained valuable collegiate experience after his freshmen season."
Rounding out his scholastic career at Grandview Prep Academy in Boca Raton, Fla., as a class of 2024 prospect, Ryerson was listed as a four-star recruit and finished as the No. 17 ranked prospect in the state of Florida, according to Tennis Recruiting Network. He ranked No. 40 among prospects in the Southeast and No. 116 nationally.
"There is no doubt with his work ethic that he will be a strong contributor in this program. I look forward to working with him and watching his game progress," added Merzbacher.
Ryerson joins pair of already-announced transfer commitments in
Martin Delnido (Abilene Christian) and
Julian Franzmann (New Orleans) ahead of the upcoming 2025-26 season. Chattanooga is coming off a National Invitational Tournament (NIT) title in 2025 as the program looks to keep its strong momentum heading into fall action.
