Volleyball Opens Southern Conference Action at Mercer, ETSU

The Chattanooga Mocs volleyball team opens SoCon play with a pair of road contests this weekend.

CHATTANOOGA (September 25, 2025) – The Chattanooga Mocs volleyball team will look to build off last week's momentum as Southern Conference play arrives with road trips to Macon and Johnson City on tap this weekend as the squad will face Mercer on Friday evening and rival ETSU on Saturday afternoon.
 
First serve for Friday's contest at Mercer is set for 6 p.m. (ET) inside Hawkins Arena while Saturday's start at ETSU is set for Noon (ET) inside Brooks Gymnasium. Please note, the match at ETSU was originally scheduled for 4 p.m. (ET) before the recently announced time change to Noon.
 
Both matches this weekend will feature live scoring/stats ONLY. Matches will not be available on live stream. Check GoMocs.com and the volleyball schedule page for the most updated coverage information.

Mocs Close Tennessee State Tournament With Pair of Wins
Chattanooga (6-6) shook off a tough 3-2 loss to Indiana State last Friday and claimed wins over Idaho (W, 3-1) and Tennessee State (W, 3-0) on Saturday to close out the Tennessee State Tournament in Nashville. The Mocs finished its non-conference tournament slate with an even 6-6 record that included a 5-1 mark in neutral contests.
 
Barthel, Kirkendoll Named to All-Tournament Team at TSU
Libero Caiti Barthel & middle blocker Kynli Kirkendoll were named to the TSU All-Tournament Team last weekend. Barthel concluded the weekend with 67 total digs (5.58/set) including a career-high 34 against ISU while Kirkendoll contributed 33 total kills (2.75/set) at a blistering .475 attack percentage on 61 total swings.
 
Mocs Look for First SoCon-Opening Win on Road Since 2008
Chattanooga will open Southern Conference play this weekend with a pair of matches beginning with a Friday evening tilt in Macon, Ga., at Mercer before concluding with a Noon matchup in Johnson City at rival ETSU. The Mocs have dropped their last six SoCon openers on the road with its last win coming over Georgia Southern (W, 3-1) in 2008.
 
Jackwin Closing Towards Career Milestones
Outside hitter Sydney Jackwin is nearing a plethora of career milestones as her collegiate totals ramped up over the past few weekends. Jackwin currently sits at 999.0 total points, 877 kills, 908 digs and 85 service aces for her career, which began at Louisiana Tech for a pair of seasons in 2023 and 2024.
