1/9/2026 9:36:00 PM | Cross Country & Track & Field
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- The Chattanooga women's indoor track and field team delivered a strong performance at the UAB Blazer Invite highlighted by a program record and multiple personal bests.
Â
Senior Maddie Wheatcroft posted a time of 2:57.00 in the 1000 meter, beating out a 28-year old mark, 3:00.51, set in 1998 by Jennifer Eckard-Croft. Wheatcroft placed sixth overall in the race, running in the first heat. Senior Leah Boyd Mitchell posted a time of 3:04.71 finishing second in her heat and ninth overall.
Â
Stella Henry recorded a personal best jump of 5.82 meters in the long jump, setting a new personal record. That distance is 83rd this season in the NCAA across all divisions and 66th in Division I.
Â
Sophomore Aubrey Park ran a personal best 5:29.75 in the Mile run with junior Andrea Ellis right behind at 5:34.35. Sophomore Maya McCloskey also posted a PR in the mile with a time of 5:36.75.
Â
Junior Lola Baker ran a personal best time of 10:51.42 to lead the Mocs in the 3000 meter run. Freshman Halle Carden is showing progress in her rookie season setting new personal bests in the high jump at 1.63 meters and 11.18 meters in the long jump, placing third in both.
Â
The Mocs won't take much time off as they are right back in Birmingham next weekend for the Samford Invite.
Â
FROM THE HEAD COACH STEVE PICUCCI
"It was great to get our first meet in with the full team."
Â
"Definitely a little rusty coming off winter break today, but we competed well and had some strong performances too."
Â
"A couple of highlights would be Maddie breaking the 25+ year-old school record in the 1000 meter and Stella getting over 19 feet in the long jump for the first time."
