Rusty Wright, Head Coach
Overall thoughts after the 41-18 win.
"That was just a bunch of kids playing their tails off. I mean, our coaching staff called a great game. But in the end, it was a bunch of kids just not stopping playing their tails off. That's as simple as it gets. It wasn't very pretty a lot of the time, but we just had a bunch of dudes playing their tails off and turn it loose out there, and it was a lot of fun."
On the guys staying sound.
"I mean, that's the thing. We can play well enough defense, and we can really stay in the game when we figure it out offensively. We have to continue to do that. We have to continue to work on our own things and try to get better at them. We actually tried to throw the ball down a field a little bit today, which helped a lot. It really opened up some things for us in both facets."
On the offensive unit growing.
"When you got kids that are playing well, and we're blocking people up front. I thought, Coach Pizzo and his guys did a great job getting that offensive unit lined up like we needed them lined up. Our guys really went out there and executed. Things are headed in the right direction on that front."
Journey Wyche, RB, Jr.
On the confidence in the RB room.
"It's no secret that we're going to run the ball. We have a great offensive line that works hard every day, and they execute. And then, with our pass game opening up, it allows us to spread the box a little more."
Zion Rutledge, LB-Sr.
On the defense holding WCU without an offensive TD until late.Â
"That offense didn't score until that late 4th quarter during garbage time, if you will. We did a really good job of getting people on the ground. And you have to do that against an offense like that. They scored one touchdown. We have to be happy about that performance as a defense."
On the defensive unit's chemistry.
"That's it, our team builds off that and it's always about the next player up, you know, so we all have been tested. We're going to keep everything real as a unit, too. There's no miscommunication and we all know our assignments. We did a really good job today of getting their calls, hearing their calls, getting lined up and just being in the right spot."
Battle Alberson, QB-Jr.
On the importance of executing.
"This is what Chattanooga football is. And this is what we work on and do every day. Regardless of what's going on, it's always about how we're executing what's in front of us. That's always the goal. Just go out and execute what's called, and we know we'll be in good positions."
