Series Notes
Chattanooga drops to 14-30 all-time against Tennessee Tech… The Mocs are now 2-13 all-time in road matches against Tennessee Tech and have not beaten them in Cookeville since 1979… Tonight's match was the first meeting between the two programs since 2021… The Golden Eagles have won two in a row in the series.Â
How it Happened
The first set was tight throughout, with each side holding three-point leads before the score read 11-11. It remained close later in the set as a kill from Elena Vukmanov followed by an attack error for the Golden Eagles pushed UTC up 21-19. Tech responded by scoring the next four points to all of a sudden go up 23-21. Chattanooga later killed off a set point at 24-23, before consecutive UTC errors gave TTU a 26-24 win.Â
The Mocs set the tone in the second set, jumping out to a 10-6 lead. Later on, back-to-back kills by Destiny Wiggins and Gracie Rose put UTC up 15-9. Despite a push from Tech, Chattanooga remained in front 23-19 after another kill from Rose. Tech got as close as 24-22 before a kill by Kynli Kirkendoll gave the Blue and Gold the 24-22 win to tie the match at one apiece.Â
Chattanooga kept its momentum going into the third set as Jordin Glass delivered a kill to put her side up 8-4. Things flipped quickly as Tech fought back with a 12-3 scoring run that put them in front 16-11. That being said, four straight errors for the Golden Eagles put Chattanooga within one point. When it mattered most, though, Tech buckled down, scoring five of the final six points to win 25-18 and go up 2-1.Â
Behind four kills, Tech scored the first six points of the fourth set. As the set progressed, TTU kept pressing on, with the lead reaching double digits at 17-7 after a service ace. The closest the Mocs would get the rest of the way was seven points as Tech cruised to a 25-17 win to end the match.Â
