Savannah Presson has been named the Southern Conference Player of the Week, as the league office announced its laurels Tuesday afternoon.
Presson, a Knoxville native, earns the weekly SoCon honor for the first time in her career. It also marks the first time since 2016 the program has earned multiple SoCon weekly awards in a single season following
Addison Iacono's selection two weeks ago.
Presson finished the weekend with a perfect 4-0 record across singles and doubles to help Chattanooga to a pair of road wins over Southern (W, 6-1) and Southeastern Louisiana (W, 5-2), upping the team's win streak to five and the season record to 7-1. The team's 7-1 start is the best since an 11-1 start to the 2023 season.
Presson earned two straight-set victories at No. 3 singles on the weekend, in addition to a pair of doubles wins with teammate
Emma Pedretti at No. 2 including a point-clinching 7-6 tiebreak win over SE Louisiana's tandem on Saturday.
For the season, Presson has played to a 6-2 record in singles (5-2 at No. 3; 1-0 at No. 2) and has won three-straight and four of her last five matches. She has amassed a 6-2 record in doubles (4-1 at No. 2; 2-1 at No. 1) alongside a combination of teammates in
Emma Pedretti and
Rufaro Magarira.
