Overview
The Chattanooga Mocs football team is eager to get to work to put 2025 behind them. The Mocs are coming off a frustrating 5-7 year, but there is much to be excited about at this juncture. More than 80 of the 100-plus due on the 2026 roster are already on campus and putting their stamp on the current edition.

Quotable
"We're getting a chance to work fundamentally. That's the biggest thing for me this spring because I think we were fundamentally a poor football team last year in a lot of aspects. That can be from lining up to having the right pad level to understanding how things need to be done schematically. That's the biggest part for me. Now we get an opportunity to go put pads on a couple of days into it and see if we can fundamentally get better every day at doing things. That's the goal for this group." –

"We changed it up after Christmas break and got back in the weight room for eight weeks. That's something I thought we needed to do. We'll see if we got stronger and see if it pays off during spring practice. We have to continue that through the end of the summer, but excited about the gains we've made and the way some guys look differently now." –
Wright on starting later than usual
Â
"Proud of the work they've put in so far to continue on that path. The work will make us better, and we'll figure out what we are after that." –

Â
"I like the group we brought in. Between the high school guys and the transfers, it's a good mix of people. We like the guys that stayed. I think that was a big thing for us too in the offseason." –

Breakdown
- The squad works daily for the most part with all practices happening in the mornings while taking Sunday's off.
- This is a much later start date than normal under Rusty Wright's tenure. Spring drills usually conclude prior to spring break. As mentioned above with a young and new group, it was important to extra work in the weight room prior to the coming weeks of field work.
- The drills conclude on April 18 with a Spring Showcase event at Scrappy Moore Field. More information to come.
- There are 12 starters returning with five on offense, six on defense and one in special teams.
- Out of the 2026 2 deep, 31 return: 12-offense, 15-defense and 4-special teams.
