Men’s Tennis Defeats Kalamazoo 6-1 to Earn Fourth-Straight Win

The Chattanooga Mocs men’s tennis team handled the Hornets in the team’s final non-conference match of the season.

CHATTANOOGA (March 25, 2026) – The Chattanooga Mocs men's tennis team concluded its non-conference portion of the schedule with a quality 6-1 victory over Kalamazoo College on a sunny Wednesday afternoon at the UTC Tennis Center on campus.

  • Chattanooga improves to 9-8 overall after the victory… DIII member Kalamazoo moves to 6-3… fourth-straight win for UTC… final non-conference match of the season.
  • Chattanooga is now 4-1 all-time against Kalamazoo… first matchup against the Hornets since 1979… UTC and KC battled in four-straight seasons back during the 1976-79 campaigns.

In doubles, Jaxon Lamb and Carter Ramthun delivered a strong performance at No. 3 and opened play with a 6-1 victory to set an early tone. Julian Franzmann and Kristof Kincses followed with a 6-2 win at No. 2 to clinch the team point before Kalamazoo's Cameron Crosby and Alex Fleming erased a large deficit to defeat Cortland Grove and Jakub Jupa (7-5) on court No. 1.
 
In singles, UTC extended the lead with an early TJ Ryerson 6-2, 6-1 win over Sebastian Courtright at No. 5. Jupa added another point for Chattanooga with a 6-4, 6-2 victory against Crosby at No. 1 before Franzmann clinched the match by defeating Fleming 6-1, 6-0 on court No. 2.
 
Lamb continued the success with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Haresh Anand at No. 6 to make it 5-0 in favor of UTC. Kincses overcame Will Seymour in a three-set battle (2-6, 6-3, 10-6) at No. 4 before Kalamazoo picked up its lone singles point at No. 3 following a Derek Blackwell 4-6, 6-3, 11-9 comeback win over Grove.
