Outdoor Mocs Head to Emory, Raleigh Relays

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga women's outdoor track and field team is on the road this weekend to the Thrills in the Hills in Atlanta hosted by Emory and the prestigious Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, N.C.

RALEIGH RELAYS
Hosted by NC State, the Raleigh Relays draws one of the deepest early-season fields in the nation, giving UTC's Ryleigh Simmons and Maddie Wheatcroft a valuable opportunity to test themselves against elite collegiate and professional competition.
 
Chattanooga will be represented by sprinter Ryleigh Simmons in the 100 and 200 meter dashes while distance standout Maddie Wheatcroft will run the 1500 and 5000 meter runs.

THRILLS IN THE HILLS
A large contingent of Chattanooga runners will compete Friday and Saturday at the Emory Thrills in the Hills annual meet.
 
Friday's field events get started at 2:30 p.m. with Halle Carden and Norah Haney in the high jump. Haney will move on to the javelin while Carden and Stella Henry are scheduled to compete in the triple jump.
 
Ava McGue, Aalvinee Torrance and Kolbee Webb get the track events started with the 200 meter dash at 4:40 p.m. Bella King, Maya McCloskey, Audrey Wade and Anna Roberson are entered in the 1500 meter invitational Friday and the day closes out with the 5000 meter with Lauren Bayes, Scarlett Nash and Aubrey Park.
 
Taylor Crawford, McGue, Torrance and Webb will team up for the 4x400 meter relay Friday night.
 
Saturday gets started at 11:50 a.m. with the 3000 meter run with McCloskey, King and EV McGowan. Emma Thweatt, Kennedy Reynolds and Olivia Steele are set for the 1500 meter Open. The 400 meter dash with McGue, Webb and Torrance closes out the Mocs running events.
 
Haney, McGue and Carden will test their leaping skills in the Long Jump at 12:30 p.m. on the final day.
