CHATTANOOGA (March 26, 2026) – While riding a four-match winning streak, the Chattanooga Mocs men's tennis team gets set for a crucial weekend of Southern Conference action as the squad welcomes nationally-ranked and fellow unbeaten No. 70 Samford on Friday afternoon before making a trip to Mercer on Sunday morning.
Friday's huge SoCon tilt against Samford is slated for a 2 p.m. (ET) start at the UTC Tennis Center on campus with all fans receiving FREE UTC Bucket Hats (free admission) upon entry. The match will feature live scoring and live video. Sunday's contest at Mercer is scheduled for an 11 a.m. (ET) start in Macon, Ga.

First Serve: Chattanooga (9-8, 3-0 SoCon) enters the weekend riding a four-match win streak… most recently dispatched Kalamazoo College (DIII) by a 6-1 decision on Wednesday afternoon.
Road Warriors: Chattanooga recorded two impressive results on the road last weekend in SoCon play… earned a 6-1 win at Wofford on Saturday… defeated Furman 4-3 in Greenville the next day… marked UTC's first road win over the Paladins since 1999.
SoCon Standings: Chattanooga is one of three unbeaten teams atop the SoCon standings heading into the weekend… other two programs are nationally ranked in the latest ITA National Rankings (#70 Samford 3-0; #68 ETSU 2-0).

First Serve: Samford (11-5, 3-0 SoCon) enters the weekend ranked No. 70 in the latest ITA National Team Rankings (released March 24)… Bulldogs have won their last five matches which included three SoCon victories (Wofford, at UNCG, at Citadel) and two non-conference wins (Lipscomb, at South Alabama).
Ranked Dogs: No. 70 Samford is one of two SoCon programs featured in the latest ITA National Team Rankings… No. 68 ETSU is the other… Samford has held an ITA national ranking for four-straight weeks… peaked at No. 66 last week before falling four spots this week.
Mercer Notables
First Serve: Mercer (4-11, 0-2 SoCon) looks to snap a four-match skid entering the weekend… Bears host UAB in a non-conference dual Friday before UTC makes the trip Sunday… Bears four-match slide consisted of tough matchups including road contests at No. 68 ETSU, Tennessee and Troy and a home defeat to Furman.
