CHATTANOOGA (March 27, 2026) – The Chattanooga Mocs men's tennis team had its four-match winning streak snapped while suffering its first Southern Conference defeat after falling 4-3 to No. 70 Samford on a breezy Friday afternoon at the UTC Tennis Center on campus.

• Chattanooga drops to 9-9 overall and suffers its first SoCon loss after the defeat… UTC is now 3-1 in the league… the nationally ranked No. 70 Samford squad improved to 12-5 and 4-0 in SoCon play.
• Chattanooga has now dropped six-straight to Samford in the all-time series history… third-straight 4-3 defeat to the Bulldogs at home… 2022, 2024 and 2026 matchups.
• The match marked Chattanooga's eighth match that finished by a narrow 4-3 final result… ties the most in single-season program history (since going to seven points in 1994)… just the third-ever season with eight (2005, 2012, 2026).

In doubles, Samford's No. 3 pairing of Lukas Dvorak and Cooper Errey defeated Jaxon Lamb and Carter Ramthun (6-4) in the first match result before the guests secured the team point behind a 6-3 win from Sandeep Mohandoss and Darcy Nicholls over Cortland Grove and Jakub Jupa at No. 1. UTC's Julian Franzmann and Kristof Kincses managed a 7-5 win at No. 2 against Sebastian Harrison and Vitorio Sardinha.
 
In singles, Franzmann tied the match with a victory over Nicholls (6-3, 7-6) at No. 2 before Samford pulled back in front 2-1 following a Martin Schwartzman 6-2, 6-4 win over TJ Ryerson at No. 6. The Bulldogs extended their lead to 3-1 following a Dvorak 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 win over Grove at No. 4 and forced UTC to capture the remaining three matches.
 
Kincses battled back to earn a 6-7 (3), 6-0, 6-2 victory at the No. 5 slot to make it 3-2 with two matches remaining, both of which sat in a deciding third set at the time. Samford's Harrison completed a comeback win of his own on court No. 3, defeating Martin Delnido 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (4), to clinch the overall match result. Jupa posted a 6-7 (4), 6-4, 6-2 winner on the top court to close things out.
