BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- The Chattanooga Mocs softball team fell 10-4 to Samford on Sunday afternoon at SU Softball Stadium, closing out the weekend series in Birmingham.

Ava Cowart led the Mocs offensively, finishing 2-for-4 with a run, two stolen bases and an RBI.
Jade Gainer added a double and a run, while
Chloe Lackey contributed an RBI-producing swing.

Samford struck early with a pair of runs in both the first and second innings, highlighted by a two‑run homer in the opening frame. Chattanooga chipped away in the third when
Zoe Wright reached on an error and later scored on a wild pitch, cutting the deficit to 4–1.

UTC clawed closer in the fifth, using Gainer's leadoff double to spark a two‑run inning. Cowart singled home Gainer, stole second and advanced to third, then scored on a sacrifice fly from
Annika Segedi to make it 7–3.

Lackey drove in another run in the sixth, reaching on an error that allowed
Izzy Carlyle to score and make it a 7–4 ballgame.

Samford responded with three runs in the bottom half of the inning, including a three‑run homer that extended the Bulldogs' lead to six.

Freshman
Emery Bales threw 4.1 innings in relief for the Mocs, allowing seven runs (six earned) while striking out one.
Sophia Guerra started and took the loss, dropping to 3–2 on the season.

Chattanooga was limited to five hits in the game, while Samford collected 13.

The Mocs return home to host Georgia State Tuesday, March 31 for it's annual Pink Game. Tickets are on sale online at GoMocs.com and one hour prior to first pitch at the Frost Stadium ticket booth.
