RECAP: Women’s Golf in 2nd, Bugg T1 with 18 to Play

Makenzie Cooper and the Chattanooga Mocs are in second with 18 holes to play at the Chris Banister Invitational.

Overview
The Chattanooga Mocs women's golf team moved up two spots into second place with 18 hole to play at the Chris Banister Invitational. The ladies recorded 299 today putting the Mocs at 605. That's behind 21st-ranked Tennessee (583) in the lead and ahead of Jacksonville State (609) in third. Sophomore Bella Bugg leads the way, and the tournament, at 1 over.

Notes
  • Today's 299 saw a strong finish. The squad made the turn at 6 over and saw it grow to 13 over through 16. Birdies by Cooper on 17 and Bugg on 17 and 18 saw two shots carved off the total.
  • Bugg is tied for first at 1 over with Tennessee duo Thitkarn Thapasit and Kyra Van Kan.
  • Cooper is just outside the top 10 in a tie for 14th with Healey close to the top 20 tied in 24th.
  • Birdies have been hard to come by at Spring Lakes. There were seven on the counting cards today making it 12 for the tournament.
  • Pauliukonyte is one of six players under par on the par 3s through two rounds at 1 under. Cooper is even.
  • Bugg is level par on the par 4s which is tied for the tourney field.
  • Healey is 2 under on the par 5s which is tied for second in the event.
  • Just four total others (scores higher than double bogey) is second only to Tennessee (3). Only two are on the counting cards.
  • Tuesday's final round begins at 11 a.m., off the first hole. Wells is first up with Pauliukonyte (11:09), Healey (11:18), Cooper (11:27) and Bugg (11:36) to follow.
