CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The 2026-27 Chattanooga Women's Basketball roster is starting to take its shape as the Mocs signed their second key piece out of the transfer portal this offseason, adding veteran guard Caelan Ellis. The Powder Springs, Georgia native comes to the Scenic City as a Redshirt Senior, after spending the last three seasons at Charleston Southern. 

Ellis was the Bucs' second leading scorer this past season, averaging 12.7 points per game. Caelan is an elite shooter, as she knocked down 77 triples to rank fourth in the Big South. She shot the deep ball at a rate of 35%, which was fifth best in the Big South. Outside of scoring, she totaled 42 assists and 55 rebounds for the year. 

"Caelan is a proven three-level scorer at our level. She will have an immediate impact on our roster and in the SoCon. She has logged many game minutes and will give our team veteran experience as well. I'm very excited to have her here and a part of our family," said Head Coach Deandra Schirmer.

During this past season, Caelan averaged a team-high 32.1 minutes per game, and was a starter for Charleston Southern in 29 games. She scored 20 or more points in four games, including a career-high 26 points vs. Longwood, and was a double-digit scorer in 24 games. She scored a total of 479 points as a Buc across the two seasons she played there after redshirting the 2023-24 season.

She started her collegiate career at the University of Buffalo, appearing in 18 games and scoring 36 points in her lone season in Upstate New York. 

Caelan graduated from McEachern High School in 2022, where she was a four-time All-Region player and the Region Player of the Year her senior season. She helped lead McEachern to 57 wins and three deep runs in the Georgia 7A State Playoffs during her career. Caelan once made 11 triples in one game, breaking the McEachern school record for most threes in a game. During the summer, Caelan played AAU ball for the Atlanta Celtics. Caelan's Mom is Heather Ellis and she has one brother, Brevin.
