CHATTANOOGA (May 26, 2026) --- Chattanooga Mocs men's basketball head coach Dan Earl has announced the addition (and return) of assistant coach Tom Kiely to his staff ahead of the 2026-27 season, as the program made things official on Tuesday afternoon.
 
A familiar face to the Chattanooga program, Kiely returns to the Scenic City after serving as the Director of Basketball Operations (DOBO) during Earl's inaugural campaign with the Mocs in 2022-23.

He most recently served as an assistant coach for the past three seasons on Jack Castleberry's staff at Farleigh Dickinson (NCAA DI – Northeast Conference).

Kiely Bio
No stranger to the system, Kiely served as a DOBO under Earl for four seasons at VMI before hopping over to Chattanooga following the hire in March of 2022. Kiely helped the Mocs reach the 2023 SoCon Tournament title game and was key in helping develop the program's standout three-point attack as well as all-league big man Jake Stephens.
 
Kiely was hired to join Castleberry's first staff at FDU ahead of the 2023-24 season and has been instrumental in the program's success over the past three seasons. Working primarily with the Knights' frontcourt, Kiely helped develop five All-NEC selections during his tenure while coordinating the team's scheduling and compliance operations within his off-court responsibilities.
 
During his beginning years within the industry, he served as a recruiting coordinator for Hoop Group in Reading, Pa., from 2016-18 working closely with directors to find, evaluate and recruit top talent. Kiely also served as a camp counselor at Kevin Willard Basketball Camps from July 2015-18 and for Duke University Basketball Camps in July of 2015.

Before his stint at VMI, Kiely served as a student manager for the men's basketball team at Seton Hall during his undergraduate years and was a member of the 2016 BIG EAST Tournament Championship team.

Kiely graduated from Seton Hall in May of 2018 with a bachelor's degree with dual concentrations in marketing and management.
