CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- Five Chattanooga softball players were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team this week.
 
Taylor Long, Baileigh Pitts, Anna Dovey, Raven Jones and Abi Bunt led the Mocs through the 2026 season on the field and in the classroom. The Mocs posted a program record 3.76 GPA in the spring semester along with a 3.64 in the fall.
 
Bunt and Long each earned a 4.0 grade point average in the spring and were joined on the Dean's List and Athletics Director's Honor Roll by Dovey, Pitts and Jones.
 
Long reached 550 career strikeouts this season, ranking fifth all-time for the Mocs. She threw a no-hitter against Middle Tennessee and had a one-hitter against Southern Conference rival East Tennessee State and had four shutouts. She led the SoCon with 8.1 strikeouts per seven innings and ranked 20^th in the NCAA for strikeouts.
 
Bunt was fourth on the team this season hitting .305 with 10 doubles, two home runs and 25 RBI. She ranked 51^st in the NCAA and second in the SoCon for sacrifice flies with five.
 
Pitts led Chattanooga with a .387 batting average and was fourth in the conference. She led the Mocs in walks (34) and was second among the SoCon. She was third in the NCAA for sac flies with eight and led UTC slugging percentage, home runs, RBI and total bases. She was named the SoCon and TSWA Player of the Week and had three walk-off hits, two home runs and a double.
 
Jones anchored the hot corner and hit .271 for the season. She had six doubles and drove in 17 runs. She had 10 walks, two sac flies and six sac bunts on the season. In the Mocs extra innings win over Furman at the end of the season, Jones drove in the game winner on a single in the 10^th.
 
Dovey hit .284 for Chattanooga this season at designated hitter most of the time and some starts at third. She tallied 11 doubles and two of her three home runs were grand slams. The first came on the road at Tennessee State securing the win. The second was in the SoCon Tournament against Furman in the opening game. Tied 3-3 in the fifth, Dovey smashed a hit to deep center to break the tie and secure the Mocs advancement in the tournament.

The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
 
Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 16, 2026.
