CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Head Volleyball Coach Julie Torbett Thomas announced the signing of Ryan Oden on Wednesday, a defensive specialist transferring in from MTSU. 

The signing marks the fourth transfer portal addition that the Mocs have made this spring. 

"Our defensive group will welcome Ryan this season," Torbett Thomas said. "She understands what it takes to compete at this level, is a hard worker, and is truly a student of the game."

Oden comes to the Scenic City as a sophomore after playing one year for the Blue Raiders. In her lone season in Murfreesboro, she appeared in 13 matches and 29 sets. She totaled 35 digs, with her season-high coming against Western Kentucky, where she had six. 

Oden is a native of Florham Park, New Jersey, where she attended Mount Saint Mary Academy, playing for coach Derek Libucha. She was a three-time First Team All-Conference player and holds the school record in Digs, Service Aces, and Service Points. 

Oden was Mount Saint Mary's Athlete of the Year her Senior Year, where she led the Lady Lions to a 23-6 record. During her final two seasons of high school volleyball, Oden recorded 619 digs and 474 kills. She was also the recipient of the Mount Saint Mary Sister Kay Memorial Award for Grace and Mercy Hospitality. 

Ryan is the daughter of Tony and Amanda Oden, and has one older brother, Jaylen Oden. She plans on majoring in Biology at UTC.
