CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- An integral part of a college student-athlete's life is participating in community service events. Over the last week, as exams were winding down, members of the Mocs football, men's basketball and women's basketball teams participated in several events around Chattanooga.
On Saturday the Lady Mocs and members of the football team gathered at The McCallie School for the 41st Annual Area 4 Ray Lloyd Smith Spring Games. Women's basketball Head Coach Wes Moore served as the Grand Marshall for the parade while the student-athletes marched with various schools competing in the event. The Mocs cheered on the athletes and handed out awards. Football players also shagged balls in the shot put event.
Later on Saturday members of the men's and women's basketball team headed to Finley Stadium for ReadFest 2009. The student-athletes participated in read alongs and acted out parts of stories on stage.
On Wednesday, the Lady Mocs were hard at work again as several members of the team helped out and cheered contestants in the Nursing Home Olympics held at the McKenzie Arena on Wednesday, April 29. The Lady Mocs judged contests, assisted with the electric wheelchair obstacle course and helped with events such as the basketball shooting contest and bowling.
