Biography

- Returned to the program after 1-year hiatus in spring 2020
- 17 games played with 15 starts
- Three game-winning/game-tying fourth-quarter drives in his career
 
2021 (Junior II)
- Started nine games missing the opener and finale…threw for 1,555 yards.
- Completed 125 of 213 passes…58.7 completion percentage...had six touchdowns and nine interceptions.
- Long completion of 48 yards was to TE Chris James at Samford…long TD was 44 to James at Wofford just best 42-yarder to Tyrell Price opening the scoring in 55-13 win at Samford.
- Five rushing touchdowns with 78 yards on 33 carries for the season.
- Led game-tying drive to send the game into OT at VMI before an eventual loss.

2020-21 (Junior)
- Off the bench in two games...13-20 for 196 yards, one TD and one INT
- 5-9 for 93 yards with an INT at Furman...8-11 for 103 yards and a TD vs. Mercer...also ran three times for 18 yards against the Bears.
- A.D. Honor Roll in the fall.
 
2018 (Sophomore)
- Member of the scout team...sat out the season as a redshirt.

2017 (Freshman)
- SoCon All-Freshman Team…started the final six games.
- 130-201 (62.8%) for 1,177 yards and seven TDs against 11 INTs...led the Mocs on game-winning or game-tying drives in the fourth quarter in two of the last three games.
-  Third-most completions by a freshman, trailing Jacob Huesman’s 167 in 2012...second-most attempts by a freshman, trailing Stan Nix’s 207 in 1987…tied with Brian Hampton (1995) for third-most passing TDs by a freshman.
- Third-most passing yards by a freshman, trailing Kenyon Earl’s 1,643 for second in 1991...20-29 for 154 yards and a TD against ETSU...27-39 for 201 yards and two TDs at Wofford...14-27 for 144 yards, two TDs and two INTs at Samford...3-3 for 24 yards on game-winning drive in Birmingham.
- 30-42 passing for 317 yards, two TDs and four INTs in his first career start vs. Furman…first pass was a seven-yard completion to Alphonso Stewart...completed his first eight passes...most completions, yards and attempts by a freshman in school history...most passing yards by a Moc since Jacob Huesman had 335 at No. 1 New Hampshire on Dec. 12, 2014..
- First freshman to start a game at QB for the Mocs since Jacob Huesman vs. Elon (W, 24-17) on Nov. 17, 2012...first true freshman to play at QB for the Mocs since Antonio Miller in 2004...first true freshmen to start at QB for the Mocs since Brian Hampton in a 23-21 loss to Furman on Nov. 18, 1995, on Chamberlain Field…Hampton won his first start that season, 29-24 over The Citadel on Nov. 4, 1995, on Chamberlain Field.

Bradley Central
- Two-star prospect according to 247Sports.com…two-time all-state at Bradley Central High School in Cleveland, Tenn.…played for head coach Damon Floyd.
- More than 6,000 passing yards, 2,000 rushing yards and 70 TDs in his career…led the Bears to a 9-3 record as a senior.
- All-State basketball player…honor roll student.

- Full name is Brian Cole Copeland…son of Brian & Kim Copeland…born Sept. 18, 1998.
- Father played football at Tennessee Tech…older sister, Brooke, played basketball at Florida…older brother, Bryce, played basketball at Lee University…uncle, Chad Copeland, was the 1994 Men’s Basketball SoCon Player of the Year for Chattanooga…Chad played on two SoCon Championship squads and in two NCAA Tournaments after transferring from Florida State.
