The brackets for the 2009 Southern Conference Wrestling Tournament were release today. The Chattanooga Mocs received four No. 1 seeds in the event that begins on Saturday, March 7 at 11:00 a.m. (E.S.T.) in McAlister Fieldhouse at The Citadel in Charleston, S.C.
The Mocs' four No. 1 seeds went to defending champs Seth Garvin (165) and Cody Cleveland (141) and freshmen Dan Waddell (149) and Jason McCroskey.
Junior Joey Knox (157) and freshman Ethan Winel (197) both earned No. 2 seeds while sophomore Josh Statum (133) and freshman Demetrius Johnson (125) were No. 3 seeds. Heavyweight freshman Cody Sliger is No. 4 in his weight class.
The Citadel and UNC Greensboro both earned a pair of No. 1 seeds with VMI and Appalachian State taking the last two. A .pdf of the full brackets is attached.
Individual champions at the SoCon Tournament will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships on March 19-21 in St. Louis, Mo.
