Loudermilk Pitches Eighth Shutout in Lady Mocs' Sweep

Chattanooga, Tenn. ? Chattanooga completed the sweep Saturday afternoon over the Furman Lady Paladins, winning game two 1-0.

Freshman pitcher Brooke Loudermilk (Locust Grove, Ga.) threw a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts. The win boosts her overall record to 21-10, 9-1 Socon.

The game remained scoreless after four-and-a-half innings, but that changed in the bottom of the fifth.

Senior first baseman Alyssa Edwards (Geneva, N.Y.), after picking up a double in the bottom of the second, walked to lead off. Junior Ashlan Clarkson (Chickamauga, Ga.) took first to pinch run for Edwards before scoring courtesy of sophomore third baseman Toni Hutchison's (Madison, Tenn.) double to left center to boost Chattanooga to a 1-0 lead.

Furman's Lynn Parmer recorded the lone hit for the Lady Paladins. Blake Murray was credited with the loss, dropping her record to 7-15.

Edwards and Hutchison recorded the two hits for Chattanooga, both doubles.

Chattanooga and Furman finish the three-game series on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. Prior to the start of the game, the four seniors will be honored.
