Birmingham, Ala. ? The Lady Mocs dropped a pair of games, including a close extra innings game, on Thursday evening 3-2, 7-3 against non-conference opponent UAB.

UAB's Andrea Rogers hit her first career grand slam over left field on a 3-1 count to secure the win.

Chattanooga's overall record now sits at 33-28, 14-4 SoCon, while UAB's now stands at 31-27, 10-13 C-USA.

Senior first baseman Alyssa Edwards (Geneva, N.Y.) extended her hitting streak to seven games, picking up a couple of singles and an RBI, tying her longest hitting streak to date.

Senior pitcher Ashley Frizzell (Soddy Daisy, Tenn.) was charged with the loss, dropping her overall record to 11-13.

The Blazers earned runs in the third and fourth with shortstop Holly Krzan scoring on a wild pitch and pitcher Kayla Harris hitting a solo home run to start off the second-half of four.

Runs by freshman catcher Lynleigh Hurndon (McDonough, Ga.) and sophomore center fielder Ashley Cuticchia (Rising Fawn, Ga.) tied things up after five-and-a-half. Sophomore right fielder Laci Upchurch (Madison, Tenn.) picked up her 23rd RBI of the season on her sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Hurndon. Edwards captured RBI number 38 on her ground hit through the left side, scoring Cuticchia.

Junior Ashlan Clarkson (Chickamauga, Ga.) entered the game in the top of the eighth to pinch run for senior second baseman Brittney Whittier (Scottsdale, Ariz.), who was placed on second based on the International Tie Breaker Rule.

Clarkson advanced to third on Hurndon's sacrifice bunt before scoring on senior left fielder Jeannie Cochran's (Maryville, Tenn.) single through the right side leaving the score with Chattanooga up 3-2 going into the bottom of the eighth.

UAB tied it all up again in the bottom of the inning with Kelly Brady, pinch running for Harris, advancing to third on a wild pitch before scoring on a passed ball.

Chattanooga was unable to score a run in the top of the ninth after sophomore Carey Cooper (Sweetwater, Tenn.) entered the game to pinch run for Edwards. She advanced to third on sophomore third baseman Toni Hutchison's (Madison, Tenn.) sacrifice bunt but was left on third as the inning closed.

The Blazers' Allison Davis was placed on second before advancing to third on Lindsey Stanley's sacrifice bunt. Krzan and Nicole Tumlin were intentionally walked to load the bases before Rogers' walk-off homer cleared the bases and ended the game.

The Lady Mocs fell in game one 3-2, despite earning five hits and UAB committing one error.

Chattanooga picked up a pair of runs in the top of the fourth thanks to back-to-back singles by Tembey and freshman catcher Brittany Eason (Chattanooga, Tenn.) to put the Lady Mocs up 2-0.

But the Blazers answered back with an unearned run in the bottom of the same inning by Tumlin, after reaching on a hit by pitch.

Tumlin belted one out over the left field fence to start off the bottom of the sixth making it two all. Rogers scored four batters later on Jennifer Nelson's single to the right side giving the Blazers the lead 3-2.

The Lady Mocs had one more shot at bat getting Whittier on base on a walk, but a foul pop-up ended the game with the team coming up just short.

Freshman pitcher Brooke Loudermilk (Locust Grove, Ga.) suffered her 11th loss of the season dropping her overall record to 21-11. Frizzell came in relief in the bottom of the sixth.

The Lady Mocs face the College of Charleston Cougars in Charleston, S.C., in the team's final conference series next weekend beginning on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. The winner of the series will also take the regular season SoCon title.
