Legendary Pitching Coach Ernie Parker to Headline Pitching Clinic

| By:

The UTC Softball Indoor Training Facility will serve as the host site for a free coaches pitching and instructional clinic this Saturday, August 18, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Headlining the accomplished instructional panel will be Ernie Parker, the legendary former pitching coach for the perennial national youth champions, the Gordon Panthers. In addition to his time as a pitching coach, Parker has produced a number of instructional videos and continues to serve as a coach and consultant to many nationally recognized pitchers.

Among those joining Parker on the instructional staff will be Marty McDaniel, pitching coach for the University of Tennessee, and Vann Stuedeman, pitching coach for the University of Alabama. Last season Tennessee was the NCAA National Runner-up while Alabama advanced to the NCAA Super Regionals, finishing with a record of 55-10.

Also on staff will be Rick Pauly, head coach of Spartanburg Methodist College, and Sarah Pauly, a former Olympic Team pool member and current member of the Washington Glory, the 2007 National Pro Fastpitch Champion.

Rounding out the staff are Lacey Swarthout, pitching coach for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Marc Dagenias, Strength and Conditioning Coach for Softball Peak Performance, and Matt Green, the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

The clinic is designed to instruct coaches and parents in the correct do's and don'ts of fastpitch pitching and is free of charge to the general public. Demonstration and instruction in all pitching areas, both for beginners and more advanced, and emphasis on conditioning, skills, and drills will be held throughout the day.

For more information, please contact clinic director Rick Pauly by phone at (864) 237-1253 or e-mail at fhpauly@hotmail.com.
