DAVIDSON, N.C. ? Chattanooga extended its win streak to seven games with a 67-47 win over Davidson in Southern Conference action Monday night at Belk Arena.
Alex Anderson, the SoCon December women's basketball Athlete of the Month, led three Chattanooga players in double figures with 17 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three blocked shots. Shanara Hollinquest notched her first double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Brooke Hand went 3-for-6 from the 3-point line and had 15 points for the Lady Mocs.
In the first half, Chattanooga led by as much as 12 points and carried a 35-25 lead into the locker room at the break. The Lady Mocs were 15-of-31 (48.4%) in the opening period and 3-for-6 from beyond the arc.
Davidson cut the lead to six points (37-31) at the 17:45 mark of the second half, but that was as close as the Wildcats would get. Hand hit a jumper to spark a 25-7 run to give the Lady Mocs their largest lead of the game at 62-38 with 6:54 to play.
Honna Housley, the only Davidson player in double figures, went 3-for-8 from beyond the arc and had a game-high 17 points for the Wildcats. Kelsey Cary scored seven points while Mercedes Robinson and Danielle Hemerka pulled down eight boards each.
Chattanooga tied its season-high for rebounds with 45, four more than the Wildcats managed. The Lady Mocs improve to 12-3 overall and 4-0 in league action while the Wildcats fall to 8-7 overall and 2-2 in the SoCon.
The Lady Mocs will return home Saturday, Jan. 12 for the first time since December 17 to host Elon in a 12:30 conference matchup. The game will be carried live by SportSouth and on the radio at WDOD-AM 1310 or online around the world at www.GoMocs.com.
