RICHMOND, Ky. --- The men's tennis team made quick work of Wright State Saturday night, defeating the Raiders 5-0 at the Greg Adams Indoor Tennis Center in Richmond, Ky.
The Mocs captured the doubles point and won the middle four singles matches to clinch the victory and enable Chattanooga to win all three of its matches this past weekend at Eastern Kentucky. The Mocs also notched wins over Eastern Kentucky and Indiana State on the trip.
“This was a big win for us,” Head Coach Carlos Garcia said. “We kept our focus the whole time and came home with three good team victories, playing three matches in two days.”
In doubles competition, the Mocs took matches one and three by 8-6 and 8-1 scores to secure a 1-0 lead.
Junior Peter Sauska remained undefeated in singles on the year, claiming a 6-0, 6-0 blanking of Pip Rehg at No. 3 singles.
Senior Razvan Axente defeated Nick Camilleri at No. 2, 6-1, 7-6(5) at No. 2 singles, junior Pavel Vostrikov was a 6-1, 6-2 winner at No. 4 over Landon Neuman and freshman Rick van de Bovenkamp got past Jan Alafriz at No. 5, 6-3, 6-2.
Also competing for the Mocs in singles but unable to finish their matches were senior Badr Bouabdellah at No. 1 and freshman Robert Diamond at No. 6.
The Mocs, now 4-1, host Tennesse-Martin Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Hixson Racquet Club in Hixson, Tenn.
