Mocs Split at Callaway Collegiate Match Play

Derek Rende won the lone match for
Stephan Jaeger halved his match with Connor Arendell. Jaeger trailed by two holes after four, but three of the next four holes to go 1-up. Arendell retook the lead and was 2 p with three to play. Jaeger won two of those three holes to get the half.
It was not to be however, as Adam Hadwin beat Ben Rickett 6&5, Justin Dorward topped Jonathan Hodge 2&1 and Chris Biuso defeated Fredrik Qvicker 2&1. That set up the second match of the day with Cal-Irvine.
Jaeger made quick work of the Anteaters Roberto Francioni in the afternoon match winning 7&6. Jaeger did not lose a hole and won on his second, third, fifth, sixth, 11th and 12th holes with the final win clinching the match.
Sean Shahi answered for UCI with an impressive 4&3 win over Rende. Qvicker gave the Mocs a 2-1 lead with a 3&2 win over Shaun O'Meara never trailing in the match and only losing two holes.
Rickett earned a half with John Chin at No. 1. After winning the opening hole, Rickett battled Chin hole-for-hole with each player winning just four holes apiece.
Hodge clinched the match with a 2-up win over Michael Im. Hodge also won his opening hole and took a 4-up lead through six holes. Im did not roll over evening the match after 15 holes. After halving the 16th hole in the match, Hodge closed Im out winning the final two.
