Box Score BOONE, N.C. --- Peter Sauska claimed his third straight league win as the Chattanooga men's tennis team fell 6-1 to Appalachian State Saturday afternoon in Boone, N.C.
Sauska defeated Appalachian State's Bobby Lake who is ranked 125th in the nation in three sets. Lake won the first set 6-3, but Sauska stormed back taking the next two by identical 6-4 margins. In doubles, Sauska, along with partner Pavel Vostrikov, defeated Lake and Lee Floyd 8-7(7-5), but the Mountaineers would claim the doubles point with wins at Nos. 2 and 3.
After going up 1-0 following doubles, the Mountaineers won both the Nos. 3 and 2 singles matches to go up 3-0 on the Mocs. Peter Jacobs defeated Alex Butnarcuic 7-6(4), 6-0 at No. 3 followed by a win at No. 2 by ASU's Trent Constance over Pavel Vostrikov in three sets, 3-6, 6-3, 6-0.
Sauska's win put the match at 3-1 but the Mountaineers would prevail winning the final three singles matches. Lee Floyd posted a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 4 over UTC's Dakota Pate to clinch the match. Alain Humblet defeated Rick van de Bovenkamp 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6 and Philip Kloc got past Sam Parfitt at No. 5 by a score of 6-2, 7-6(5).
The Mocs will return to Chattanooga to host Tennessee Wesleyan along with the women's tennis team at the UTC Tennis Complex beginning at 2:30 p.m.
