
Mocs Head to Stillwater as the No. 5 Seed

“It's a great golf course...a really good test of golf,” said Head Coach Mark Guhne. “It is a course that I think fits our strengths.”
One of those strengths is the Mocs length off the tee and the first person who comes to mind is Southern Conference scoring leader Derek Rende (72.31 strokes/round). Rende has had a strong spring with three top 10 finishes, two in the top five.
Fredrik Qvicker is coming off his best effort of the season tying for second at the SoCon Championship on a long course as well, the Country Club of South Carolina (7,062 yards). Qvicker shot five-under par 211 and along with Rende, were clutch down the stretch turning a two-stroke deficit to
Seniors Ben Rickett and Jonathan Hodge are retuning for their final regional go-around. Rickett repeated as an All-SoCon performer joined by Rende and freshman Stephan Jaeger. Jaeger was named SoCon Freshman of the Year.
The Mocs will have their practice round Wednesday morning before opening the regional on Thursday morning. The three-day, 54-hole event will feature 18 holes per day. The top five teams and low individual from a non-advancing squad will move on to
WHO: Jonathan Hodge. Hodge struggled at the SoCon Championship as not a single round counted to the team score. All signs point toward the second team All-American from 2008 regaining his form as he shot an even-par 72 in U.S.Open qualifying earlier this week.
