FORMBY, MERSEYSIDE, ENGLAND---A trio of Chattanooga golfers made it through 36 holes
of qualifying in the match play portion of the British Amateur played at Formby
and West Lancashire Golf Clubs. Stephan
Jaeger, Fredrik Qvicker and Ben Rickett are
joined by 73 others who will square off at Formby Wednesday through Saturday
for the title.
“It is exciting for our program,” said Head Coach Mark
Guhne. “Just to make it this far is a
dream for many golfers and it is amazing that our program has three
student-athletes with an opportunity to win one of the most coveted
championships in golf history.”
The British Amateur was first competed in 1885. The winner earns a spot in the 2010 Masters
Championship.
Jaeger and Qvicker tied for ninth at three-under par
141. Qvicker, playing Formby on Tuesday,

had the low Mocs round of the day with a 69 (-3), while Jaeger, who teed off at
West Lancashire, (scorecard)
shot 73 (+1). Rickett, on West Lancashire, (scorecard)
was one shot back at 142 (-2) after today's 70 (-2) and tied for 15th.
Italy's
Matteo Manassero won the stroke play portion following up his opening round 65
(-7) with a 70 (-2) on Tuesday to shoot 135 (9). The top 64 and ties make into match play.
