Overview
The Chattanooga Mocs men's golf team is coming off a championship season. There's the seventh Southern Conference Championship. And the 3rd team advancement through NCAA Regionals to the finals. And now? A major state title to boot. The team has a large weekend of activity as well so let's take a look at what happened and what is ahead.
A Look Back
There are two big notes to head into summer with for the Mocs, both returning and incoming.
- Rising sophomore Evan Rogers picked up right where he left off. The Duluth, Ga., native was 16 under over 24 competitive rounds since the calendar turned to 2026. Make that 26 under now and with a big trophy to boot.
- Rogers is the 2026 Georgia Amateur Champion. He shot 10-under 278 at Ocean Forest Golf Club to claim a dominant 8-stroke victory over UGA grad Carter Loflin in second. They were just two of three golfers to finish under par in the event highlighting the fantastic week Rogers put together.
- All four of his cards were par or better shooting 69, 69, 72 and 68. The 8-stroke triumph ties the tournament record for winning margin with PGA Tour golfer Russell Henley (2009).
- The other notable is incoming freshman Cameron Mukherjee. The native of Edinburgh, Scotland earned his way into the 131st British Amateur Championship. He qualified along with brothers Oliver and Samuel, both currently at Duke. The trio navigated the pre-qualy field at West Lancashire Golf Course last Friday.
- The Am was Monday and Tuesday of this week with the trio missing the medal cut.
A Look Ahead
It is a busy run. Six Mocs are in action at three events. Here's the breakdown and where to follow.
- Rogers win earned some serious opportunities. The victory registered exemptions into the U.S. Amateur, Southern Amateur and Jones Cup.
- He's right back on the tee at the Sunnehanna Amateur at Sunnehanna Country Club in Pennsylvania. The 85th edition began play today with 72 holes concluding on Saturday, June 20. Leaderboard link here
- The 108th Western Junior is underway at the Knollwood Club in Lake Forest, Ill. Incoming freshman Carter Graham from Brentwood, Tenn., is in the prestigious field and vying to make the 36-hole cut in the 72-hole event. The top 44 and ties move on to a 36-hole spring to the finish Thursday, June 18. Leaderboard link here
- There is a quartet of Mocs nesting this week in suburban Atlanta eyeing another coveted prize, the Dogwood Invitational. It starts today – June 17 – and continues through Saturday's final round following a Friday cut to the low 40 and ties. Camden Braidech, Aidan Cohl, Ward Harris and Thad Whitfield take the tee looking to add their name near former Mocs Garrett Engle '23 who won in 2024. Druid Hills Golf Club is the host site. "Congrats to Evan on the win. It is incredibly special anytime you win your state's top event. It is important to stay in that competitive mindset in the summer. It is vital to how it benefits our group when we return in August." –
