TEAM
- Chattanooga claims 98-48 win over Spalding...UTC is now 3-7, the Golden Eagles 1-7.
- 1st meeting between the two teams...the Mocs are 88-1 against non-DI competition since the move to DI in 1977-78.
- Head Coach John Shulman is 124-113 in his 8th season at Chattanooga.
- Spalding Head Coach Kevin Gray played from 1973-76 for the Mocs helping guide the team to an 82-32 mark over his four seasons and a national runner-up finish in 1976. He scored 1385 points in his career averaging 12.4 points per game. A sharpshooter, Gray made 51.3 percent of his field goal attempts and 80.6 percent from the free throw line. He was an assistant coach for eight seasons under Ron Shumate and Murray Arnold from 1977-84.
- Chattanooga shot a season-best 57.4 percent (31-54) from the field and 50 percent (14-28) from three-point range...the last time UTC topped 50 percent shooting in either case was 57.8 percent (26-45) from the floor last season against Georgia Southern (2/3/11) and just two games ago hitting 53.8 percent (14-26) from beyond the arc at College of Charleston (12/3/11).
- The 17 points allowed in the first half tied the season low by an opponent with Warren Wilson (11/21/11).
- The Mocs set new season highs for free throws made (22) and attempted (31)...the last time the team made as many as 22 was in the double OT win over UNCG making 36 on Jan. 27, 2011...the last time UTC shot as many as 31 was 31 on the number in the win over Furman on February 21, 2011.
- 14 3pt field goals made ties season set at Charleston...Chattanooga has made 10 or more three times now on the year.
- 33 points off 24 Spalding turnovers tied the season high set against Warren Wilson (11/21/11).
INDIVIDUAL
Senior Keegan Bell
- 12 points and eight assists...4-9 FG, 4-8 3pt on the night.
- Recorded his 500th collegiate assist (includes 95 as a freshman at Vandy in 2007-08)...now has 412 in his UTC career which is two behind record holders Tim Brooks (1992-93) and Wes Moore (1996-99) with 414.
- No. 500 came on a post feed to Drazen Zlovaric for layup at 16:44 in the first half.
- 46th career 5+ assist games...has five or more in every game this season.
- 2nd game this season with four or more 3pt baskets, 15th career.
Junior Dontay Hampton
- Career-high 15 pts shooting 4-5 FG, 3-3 3pt & 4-4 FT.
- 3rd double digit night of the year, 5th career.
Senior Ricky Taylor
- 13 points on 4-7 FG, 1-2 3pt & 4-4 FT.
- Now has 958 career points moving into the top 20 in scoring past Benny Green (1988-89)...Brooks in No. 19 with 970.
- 8th double digit scoring game of season, 53rd career.
- Now 8th all-time in 3pt FGM with 129...Isaac Conner (1996-99) is 7th with 149.
- Has made 22 of last 23 FT attempts.
Senior Omar Wattad
- 12 points on 4-5 shooting, all from three-point range.
- 3rd time this season making four or more 3pt in a game, 16th career.
Freshman Ronrico White
- Tied season high with 11 points and five rebounds...made 6 of 8 from free throw line.
Junior Drazen Zlovaric
- 14 points and four rebounds...6-9 from the field, 2-4 from the charity stripe...14 points ties season high.
- 5th double digit scoring night of season, 1st since scoring 10 at Georgia Southern (12/1/11).
