Mocs Fall at Georgia State 6-1

Box Score The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 match at Georgia State this afternoon.  Sophomore Jackson Tresnan (Apopka, Fla.) scored the lone point for the Mocs (1-6) with his win at No. 4 singles. 

The Panthers (7-3) took the opening doubles point by sweeping all three matches.  Tresnan and fellow sophomore Stephen Crofford (Franklin, Tenn.) pushed their No. 2 bout with Trent Spinks and Vincent Verpeaux to a tiebreaker before falling 8-7 (7-3). 

Five the six matches were decided in straight sets.  Sophomore Roberto Vieira (Bedfordview, South Africa) and Gabe Townes' No. 1 sinlges match was the only one to need a third set.  Vieira won the first 6-3 before falling 6-0 in the second.  Townes took the third 6-3 to win the point. 

Tresnan defeated Juan Pablo Gutierrez 7-5, 6-1 to avoid the shutout.  He is now 3-0 when playing No. 4 this season. 

Chattanooga is back in action on Sunday, Feb. 20, hosting Jacksonville State.  Match time is set for 10:00 a.m. (E.S.T.) on the UTC Tennis Courts.
