Chattanooga Men's Golf Quotes
Carpet Capital Collegiate Classic - Sept. 11, 2011 - Rocky Face, Ga.
Final Round
HEAD COACH MARK GUHNE
On 6th-place performance:
"I'm disappointed. We were in pretty good shape coming into today and just didn't get it done. Some of the top teams in the country are here, and we went toe-to-toe with them. We gave away eight shots down the stretch and you just can't do that. We counted a 75 every day and you can't do that against these teams. You make those three 75s, 72s, and there's nine shots and we have a darn good tournament. The key is we know what we need to do to get better and this is a team that will put the work in. That excites me for what we can do. We have the firepower."
On Benni Weilguni's 2nd-place finish:
"This is good for Benni. He got two under par rounds on the board and an even par one as well. Benni's worked hard and he's done it on the right things. I think it is really paying off and there are going to be some great things for him this season. He's really finding out how good he is."
SOPHOMORE BENNI WEILGUNI
On 2nd-place finish:
"It feels really good because it shows I can go deep in tournaments. I shot 17-under in qualifying over six rounds and to continue that is important. The only thing I am disappointed in is I dropped too many shots. I had too many bogeys and others. There were a lot of birdies, but I just need to minimize my drop shots. That's what I did on the second day and shot five under."
On team's performance:
"We are still learning a bit. Last year I think we finished second twice by just a shot so we need to work on finishing strong. I think our team is more experienced now, and we know how to finish a tournament, we just need to do it. Everyone is playing really well, we all went pretty deep in qualifying so I am looking forward to the next tournament."
