Golfweek Conference Challenge - Sept. 25, 2011 - Burlington, Iowa
First Round

  • Chattanooga played with Southeastern Louisiana and Tulsa...beat the Lions by 14 and the Golden Hurricane by 15.
  • Today's nine-under par 279 is the lowest team round for the Mocs since firing a 277 (-7) in the second round of the Hootie at Bulls Bay on March 29, 2010.
  • Third par or better round in just four thus far in 2011-12.
  • The Mocs shot -24 on par 5s and +24 in the par 3s and 4s in the season opening tournament (Carpet Capital Collegiate)...Today, UTC was under par on each type of hole shooting -5 on the 10 par 4s, -3 on par 5s and -1 on par 3s.
  • UTC scored par or better on 67 of 72 holes with just five bogeys on its counting cards.
  • Chattanooga is one of 11 in the 15-team field that participated in 2011 NCAA Regionals...six played in the NCAA Championship including three (Oklahoma State, Georgia, Georgia Tech) that advanced to match play...the other three NCAA Championship teams were Arkansas, Cal, Kennesaw State.
  • Front Nine (Counters by Round): -5 (-5/-/-)...Steven Fox was -3 with three birdies and six pars on the front side.
  • Back Nine: -4 (-4/-/-)...Stephan Jaeger was -4 on the back nine opening the side with four birdies in five holes (10, 11, 13, 14) after turning at minus one.
  • Jaeger's 67 (-5) is his 18th in the 60s for his career, 2nd of the season...lowest round since 2nd round of last year's LSU National Invite...like that day, he had a spotless card today with five birdies and 13 pars...50th par or better round for his career, just the 3rd UTC golfer to post 50 in a career joining Jonathan Hodge (64, 2006-09) and Derek Rende (54, 2007-10)...he's now played 223 holes without a score higher than bogey...39th straight counting round dating back to opening round of 2010 SoCon Championship.
  • Chris Robb's 69 (-3) is his 10th career par or better round, 4th in the 60s...four birdies, 13 pars and just a single bogey...season-low round...led team at -2 on par 5s.
  • Steven Fox carded his 25th career par or better round, 2nd of the season...70 is a season best...three birdies, team-high 14 pars and a bogey.
  • First career start for freshman Liam Johnston...two birdies, 13 pars and three bogeys.
  • Eagles (Counters by Rounds): 0 (0/-/-).
  • Birdies (Counters by Rounds): 14 (14/-/-). Jaeger 5 (5/-/-), Robb 4 (4/-/-), Fox 3 (3/-/-), Johnston 2 (2/-/-), Weilguni 2 (2/-/-).
