Second Round

  • Chattanooga played with Iowa and Arkansas...beat the Hawkeyes and Razorbacks by three shots each.
  • Today's 291 (+3) against tough scoring conditions is the high score in five rounds this season...tied for second-low mark of the day behind Oklahoma State's 289.
  • The Mocs shot -24 on par 5s and +24 in the par 3s and 4s in the season opening tournament (Carpet Capital Collegiate)...through two rounds, UTC is -9 on the par 5s and even par on the par 4s.
  • The rainy, windy weather did not keep the Mocs from carding one more birdie than yesterday with 15...was par or better on 10 less holes with 57.
  • UTC played the final three holes at -3 on its counting cards.
  • Chattanooga is one of 11 in the 15-team field that participated in 2011 NCAA Regionals...six played in the NCAA Championship including three (Oklahoma State, Georgia, Georgia Tech) that advanced to match play...the other three NCAA Championship teams were Arkansas, Cal, Kennesaw State.
  • Front Nine (Counters by Round): -6 (-5/-1/-)...Stephan Jaeger birdied five of first six hole en route to a 31 (-5) on front side...Jaeger is -6 on this side for the tourney.
  • Back Nine: E (-4/+4/-)...Benni Weilguni had four of his five birdies today shooting -3 on the back...Jaeger is -2 on the back nine through two rounds.
  • Jaeger's 69 (-3) is his 19th in the 60s for his career, 3rd of the season...4th par or better round, 51st for his career, just the 3rd UTC golfer to post 50 in a career joining Jonathan Hodge (64, 2006-09) and Derek Rende (54, 2007-10)...he's now played 241 holes without a score higher than bogey...33 of 36 holes par or better with 11 birdies and 22 pars...40th straight counting round dating back to opening round of 2010 SoCon Championship.
  • Benni Weilguni's 69 (-3) is 2nd in the 60s this season, 5th career...4th par or better round, 15th career...5 birdies is a new season high.
