Box Score The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's tennis team dropped its season opener to No. 71 Radford 7-0 at the Hixson Racquet Club today. The Mocs won one of the three doubles matches but could not get on the board against the Highlanders.
Radford won the doubles point with wins in the first two matches on the evening. However, Chattanooga's No. 1 duo of juniors Roberto Vieira (Bedfordview, South Africa) and Chris Smith (Johnson City, Tenn.) posted an 8-5 win over Thomas Dehaen and Nicholas Sayer.
The Mocs dropped five of the six singles matches in straight sets, but junior Jackson Tresnan (Apopka, Fla.) did take Joe Mills the distance at No. 4. Tresnan won the first set 7-5 and dropped the second frame 3-6. With the team outcome already decided, the pair played a super-tiebreak in the third. Mills won that 10-8 to complete the sweep.
