ZIONSVILLE, Ind.---The Chattanooga Mocs men's golf team is tied for second after 18 holes at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate. The Mocs and Florida Gators each shot 295 over the opening 18 to trail Illinois by 11 at 285 at Wolf Run Golf Club.
The day's docket had a scheduled 36 holes. Afternoon storms sent teams from the course prior to finishing. The remaining holes will be completed starting at 9:30 a.m., followed immediately by a shotgun start for the final round.
Zac Stolz paced the Mocs over the initial cards. The sophomore shot a 1-over 72 and is tied for ninth. He a single stroke ahead of Ewan Scott who is tied for 13th at 73. Liam Johnston and Andrew Weathers turned in matching 75s, while Wes Gosselin had a 76. Brooks Thomas shot 80 playing as an individual.
“I thought we played really solid in the morning rounds,” coach Mark Guhne noted. “This is a really hard golf course. Zac and Ewan both had good rounds. We're looking for a strong finish.”
The Illini's Brian Campbell and Scott Cahill of Miami (Ohio) lead individually at 1-under 70. There are six in second at even par, while three more matched Stolz at 72.
