ZIONSVILLE, Ind.---The Chattanooga Mocs men's golf team recorded the best finish of the young season coming in fourth at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate. The Mocs shot 905 in difficult conditions on the tough Wolf Run Golf Club tract.

Ewan Scott continued his fine play leading the squad tying for 11th overall. His 9-over par 222 was just a shot out of the top 10.

“The wind was blowing gusts up to 30 miles per hour on a tough golf course, and Ewan had a really good finish,” coach Mark Guhne noted. “He can take a lot of confidence from the way he played this weekend. He struck the ball well and just keeps getting better.”

Zac Stolz tied for 17th shooting 226. It was his best finish in a team event in his brief career with the Mocs. He was two ahead of Liam Johnston who tied for 24th at 228. Wes Gosselin was tied for 34th at 231, as Andrew Weathers ended up tied for 43rd another stroke back at 232.

“Good job by Zac getting his first top 20,” Guhne added. “We didn't have any really low scores, but overall we were pretty consistent on a tough course in those conditions.

“I think we're moving in the right direction.”

Illinois ran away with the title seemingly immune to the elements. It shot 7-over par 859 to best runner-up Florida by 30. Houston was third at 899, six in front of the Mocs. The Illini's Brian Campbell was medalist at 4 under (209), beating teammate Charlie Danielson by three at 212 (-1).

The Mocs return to the tee a lot closer to home on October 13 and 14. The team travels to the AutoTrader.com Collegiate at Berkeley Hills Country Club outside Atlanta in Duluth, Ga. The tournament starts with 36 holes on Monday the 13th and ends with a final 18 on Tuesday.
