TEE TIMESRALEIGH---The Chattanooga Mocs men's golf team is tied for third with 18 holes to go at the Wolfpack Fall Open. The Mocs 8-over par 292 matched host N.C. State today on Lonnie Poole Golf Course.
Wes Gosselin led the way with an even-par 71 tying for fifth.
Andrew Weathers' 73 ties him in 15th, while
Stuart Thomas and
Lake Johnson are tied for 28th, another shot back with 74s.
Kory Webb also shot 74 playing as an individual, while
Brooks Thomas had the drop score with an 80.
"I thought we battled today,"
Mark Guhne said. "We got in an early hole, but fought throughout the round. I'm proud of their effort. This is a long course and with it being as wet and windy as it is, it's that much longer.
"This is a good start giving us a chance for a strong finish."
West Virginia (289) holds a one-stroke lead over Campbell (290). The Mocs and Wolfpack are three behind, while UNCG is fifth at 293.
Gosselin is three off the pace set by the duo of Robin Petersson (Augusta) and Max Sear (West Virginia). Tyler Lail (Western Carolina) is in third at 69, while Avery Schneider (West Virginia) sits in fourth at 70.
Chattanooga is paired with the Spartans and Lipscomb in tomorrow's final round. The trio lead off No. 1 at 8:45 a.m. B. Thomas is up first followed by Johnson (8:54), S.
