For the third week in a row, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football team has climbed one spot in the polls and is enjoying its highest national ranking in school history. The Mocs are No. 3 in both the
STATS FCS Top 25 and the
FCS Coaches Poll this week, the two rankings officially recognized by the NCAA.
This is the seventh consecutive week Chattanooga is ranked in the top 10. UTC has been ranked in the top 25 for 31 consecutive weeks, dating back to Nov. 4, 2013. That is the ninth longest active streak in the FCS.
UTC has been among the top 25 for 34 weeks in the
Russ Huesman era (since 2009). The Mocs are 21-12 when ranked under Huesman.
Chattanooga was also in the top 10 in the national small college rankings in the 1960s, reaching as high as No. 3 on Nov. 1, 1968. This was before making the move to NCAA Division I in 1977 and prior to the FCS rankings that began in 1982.
The Mocs head to Macon, Ga., to take on Mercer this weekend. UTC faces the Bears (3-5, 0-4 SoCon) at 4:00 p.m. (E.S.T.) on Saturday, Nov. 7. The game broadcasts on ESPN3 with a link available on the football schedule page on GoMocs.com.
UTC's final regular season home game is Nov. 14 against The Citadel at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are on sale now on GoMocs.com, at the UTC Ticket Office or by calling (423) 266-MOCS (6627).
It is also Military Appreciation Day, so all active or former members of the military and their immediate families get FREE admission to the game. Call or stop by the UTC Ticket Office to more details.
