The Mocs are 1-5 on the season getting their first win of the year at Alabama A&M by a 4-0 margin.
Amanda Ortiz scored the game winning goal in the second minute and assisted
Samantha Hogan on the next goal just minutes later.
Skylar Brewer has a team-high two goals with one at A&M and another against GWU.
Katie Emig has started all six games in goal and has a 1.41 goals agains average.
UNC Asheville Bulldogs
Head Coach: Michelle Demko (Maryland, 1996) • 5th season
The Bulldogs are 4-2 on the year with its losses to SoCon foes Western Carolina and VMI. UNCA has allowed seven goals on the year and has three shutouts against Alabama A&M, Francis Marion and The Citadel and a one-goal win over Eastern Kentucky. Justine James leads the team with four of her team's 16 goals while Caroline Houser has a team-high six assists. Keller Dixon started the first three matches in goal before Madeline Getz took over keeper duties in the third game. Getz has a 1,3 GAA.
Chattanooga vs. UNC Asheville
The Mocs and Bulldogs have met just three times since 2007. UNCA took the first match and the two teams have claimed one each over the last two years. UTC won 2-1 in 2013 at Finley Stadium while the Bulldogs won 2-1 last year in Asheville.
Latham Ranks Among SoCon's Top Current Players
Senior
Clare Latham has 12 career assists and that ranks her fourth in the Southern Conference among active players. She tallied a team-high seven last season.
Thomas Ranks in Two Categories for Active Players in the Southern Conference
Senior
Lauren Thomas missed all of last year and still ranks among the top players in the Southern Conference. She is third for saves with 153 and is tied for fifth for shutouts with three.
Emig Ranked in SoCon Standings
Junior
Katie Emig has a 0.94 goals against average for the Mocs through two games, giving up just one goal in each contest. She is sixth in GAA and saves percentage (.800) while ranking seventh for saves with eight and fifth for saves per game with 4.0.
Hogan In On All The Action
Junior
Samantha Hogan assisted on all four of Chattanooga's goals in the Mocs' 4-2 win over UAH in a friendly on Sunday, Aug. 16. She nearly had a goal of her own after getting past the UAH keeper, but the Charger defense was able to keep the ball out of the net.
