Mocs Open Spring Play at MTSU

Chattanooga travels to Murfreesboro Saturday.
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's tennis team opens the 2016 spring season this weekend at Middle Tennessee. The Mocs face the Blue Raiders on Saturday, Jan. 16, at 1:00 p.m. (E.S.T.) in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

MTSU is opening is new Adams Tennis Complex this weekend, so the Mocs are expecting a big crowd on the road. UTC took the doubles point in last year's matchup, but eventually lost the match 6-1.
"We are excited about kicking off the 2016 Spring campaign this weekend on the road at Middle Tennessee State," stated head coach Carlos Garcia who is in his 15th year leading the Mocs. "The match should have an incredible atmosphere since it is MTSU's opening match in their brand new indoor facility. We are looking forward to playing well and competing as hard as we can against a really good program."
Chattanooga is 11-18 all-time against The Blue Raiders. The Mocs are trying to snap a 14-match slide in the series, going for its first win over MTSU since 1988.
UTC returns four of six starters from last year's team. Junior Lucas Plesky led the way in the fall with an 8-1 singles record. He closed out last semester on a five-match winning streak that included a title at the Georgia Southern Fall Invite. Junior Derek Brown went 5-2 in the fall and senior Nick Wingord had a 6-2 singles mark.
