Chattanooga Softball Releases 2017 Schedule

The Mocs will face four power-five programs and host three tournaments including the Southern Conference Championships

The Chattanooga Mocs softball team recently finalized their 2017 schedule and it is now available to view in its entirety at the link included above or by clicking HERE.

The 2017 slate features four Power-Five programs and six tournaments before Southern Conference play picks up in late March, including three tournaments hosted by Chattanooga inside Frost Stadium.

The NTC Tournament, Diamond 9 Challenge and USF Under Armour Invitational will take place in Florida while the Holy City Showdown will be played in Charleston, S.C.

The season opener is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., February 10th, against Morgan State as part of the NTC Elite DI Tournament in Clermont, Fla. The rest of the four-team field includes Liberty and Farleigh Dickinson.

UTC will then host the Chattanooga Challenge and the Frost Classic, both presented by Ruby Falls, the following two weekends. The Chattanooga Challenge runs from February 17-19 and hosts a six-team field including UCONN, Radford, Tennessee Tech, IUPUI and Kennesaw State.

The following weekend, February 24-26, the Mocs will host the Frost Classic with another six-team format including Farleigh Dickinson, Northwestern State, Western Michigan, UT-Martin and St. Louis.

Chattanooga will travel to Orlando, Fla., March 3-5, as they compete in the Diamond 9 Challenge. The tournament includes ACC members Boston College and Notre Dame with the addition of Bryant, South Alabama and Charlotte.

The following weekend, March 10-12, is the Holy City Showdown hosted by College of Charleston in Charleston, S.C. The Mocs will face ACC member North Carolina as well as Robert Morris (PA), UMass-Lowell, Charleston and Northern Kentucky.

Wrapping up tournament play in Clearwater, Fla., Chattanooga will compete in the USF Under Armour Invitational, March 17-19. The field includes Big Ten member Illinois with the addition of Monmouth, Colgate, LIU-Brooklyn and Fairfield.

Southern Conference play will kick off on the road in Macon, Ga., against Mercer for a doubleheader on March 25th. Chattanooga will play host for the 2017 Southern Conference Championships as the tournament runs from May 10-13.

The Mocs will compete in various non-conference matchups in the midst of conference play. The home opponents include UAB, Tennessee Tech and Lipscomb while the away matchups will be with Tennessee State and Austin Peay.
