JACKSONVILLE STATE
Â
CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs wrap up their non-conference schedule with a visit from Jacksonville State. The 2 p.m., tipoff sends the squads into the holiday break.
Â
The Mocs, 8-3, are coming off a 76-74 loss at Vanderbilt, while the Gamecocks, 7-6, won their last two at Howard (72-59) and at USC Upstate (67-66). The two met on a neutral court a year ago with UTC claiming a 62-52 win in Destin, Fla., improving its all-time series lead to 16-4.
Â
5 Notes to Know
- UTC is 19-5 in regular season non-conference games under Matt McCall.
- The Mocs have the best record in the state of Tennessee over the last four seasons at 77-34. Middle Tennessee (78-38) is second, three games behind, while Belmont (72-37), Memphis (69-42) and ETSU (68-44) round out the top 5.
- Senior Casey Jones is one steal away from 100 in his career. That would join exclusive company as Brandon Born (1992-95) is the only Moc to reach 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 100 steals for a career. Jones has 1,129 points and 567 rebounds.
- Senior Greg Pryor needs one assist and five steals to match Casey Long (2004-07) as the only Mocs to reach 1,000 points, 300 assists and 150 steals in a career. "GP" reached 1,000 points at Vanderbilt.
- Senior Tre' McLean is shooting 41.8 percent (41-98) from 3pt range since the calendar turned to 2016.
