The Chattanooga Mocs softball team dropped two games to wrap up the Chattanooga Spring Classic presented by Ruby Falls. UTC is now 8-3 on the season.
"We were inconsistent," head coach
Frank Reed stated. "We need to have more focus next weekend."
Chattanooga dropped a 3-1 game to Wright State after beating the Raiders 4-3 in an eight-inning battle on Friday.
Wright State took the lead for half an inning in the top of the second. The Mocs tied it up with a run by junior
Katy Richardson, which was off a single from senior
Sam Taylor.
The Raiders scored a run each in the sixth and seventh inning to take the win.
The game against IPFW started in exciting fashion. The Mastodons lead-off hitter Lauren Water tripled to start the inning, but she got put out at home plate on the next play.
The Mocs got on the board first.

Halie Williamson followed with a run in the second inning off an error by IPFW, giving Chattanooga a two-run lead.
The Mastodons fired back with scoring three times in the third to take the lead. In the following three innings, IPFW hit four runs compared to UTC's one.
In the seventh, the Mocs battled back with two runs, but it wasn't enough.Â
The Mastodons took a 7-5 victory over UTC to finish the weekend.Dayton beat Detroit Mercy 8-0 in a five-inning game, and then UT Martin also defeated the Titans 3-2.
UTC is back at home next weekend for the Frost Classic presented by Ruby Falls. Chattanooga faces Eastern Illinois, Evansville, Miami (Ohio), Kentucky and Northern Kentucky.

Tickets for the Frost Classic are $10 a day for adults and $5 a day for youth. UTC students are admitted free with a valid Mocs Card.
