RALEIGH---The Chattanooga Mocs men's golf team rose to spots to a seventh-place finish in the Wolfpack Spring Intercollegiate. It did so with a balanced 290 effort at Lonnie Poole Golf Course.

Brooks Thomas paced the squad with an even-par 71.
Lake Johnson turned in 72 with
Kory Webb right behind at 73.
Wes Gosselin rounded out the score with a 74, while
Andrew Weathers posted the drop score of 77.

Gosselin's 3-over 216 tied for 13th overall. Thomas played his final 31 holes at -6 to tie for 33rd at 223. Johnson tied for 40th with a 224, as Weathers and Webb tied for 44th another stroke back at 225.

There were positive and negative season highs for the Mocs. Their 19 birdies in round two are a season best and the 41 total is the sixth time this season the lads have topped 40, fifth time in the spring.

For the second straight event, they've set a new high for others (scores higher than bogey). The 13 this weekend is one more than the previous number of 12 in the Old Waverly Collegiate.

Host N.C. State was an eight-shot winner over No. 16 South Florida. The Wolfpack shot 21-under 831. Virginia came in third at -1. It was a clean sweep for the hosts as David Cooke repeated as medalist at -15.

Chattanooga heads back to North Carolina next Sunday to start the Southern Conference Championships in Pinehurst. The three-day, 54-hole tourney includes 18 hole per day at Pinehurst No. 9. Live scoring and paring links will be available on GoMocs.com, and fans can follow @GoMocsMGLF on Twitter.
