The Chattanooga Mocs softball team dropped a 6-4 contest to ETSU on Senior Night. Seniors
Criket Blanco,
Anyssa Robles,
Amanda Ross,
Alyssa Taylor and
Sam Taylor were honored prior to the first pitch.
The Mocs are 27-26 and 6-10 in Southern Conference play, while the Bucs move to 19-19 and 8-8 in league action.
"We can't have opportunities to drive runs in and leave the bases loaded," head coach
Frank Reed stated. "We have to come to play. To make a run in the conference tournament, we need to get better."
Sophomore
Ashley Conner knocked out a three-run homer in the bottom of the first to give Chattanooga an early 3-0 lead.
Sam Taylor and
Alyssa Taylor were batted in.
The Bucs brought in one run in both the second and fourth innings.
Robles doubled to start off the bottom of the fourth. As a pinch runner for the catcher, freshman
Halie Williamson made it home to bring the score to 4-2.
ETSU hit three homers back-to-back and scored an additional run in the top of the fifth to take the lead 6-4.
Alyssa Taylor, Blanco and Conner led the team with three hits, while Robles followed with two.
Sophomore
Cori Jennings pitched a complete game, tossing four strikeouts.
UTC wraps up the series with the Bucs and regular season play in a doubleheader Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in Frost Stadium.
Tickets for individual games in Frost Stadium are $5 for adults and $3 for youth. UTC students are admitted free with a valid Mocs Card.
